Ascension of Our Lord
This past week, the faithful of Saint Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral prayerfully celebrated the great Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Divine Services were filled with joy, prayer, and spiritual reflection as parishioners gathered together to glorify Christ, Who ascended into heaven forty days after His glorious Resurrection.

The Feast of the Ascension reminds us that Christ did not abandon the world after His Resurrection, but opened the way for humanity to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. In ascending to the Father, the Lord lifted human nature itself into heavenly glory, revealing the great dignity and eternal calling of every person. This holy feast strengthens our hope that where Christ is, there His faithful servants are also called to be.
During the Divine Liturgy, Father Ivan reflected on the spiritual meaning of the feast and reminded the faithful that the Ascension is not a farewell filled with sadness, but a feast of hope and victory. Though Christ ascended bodily into heaven, He remains spiritually present with His Church. Through prayer, the Holy Mysteries, and faithful Christian living, believers continue to experience His presence and grace in their daily lives.
Special prayers were offered for peace in the world, for the suffering, for families, and for all parishioners of the cathedral community. The faithful were encouraged to keep their hearts and minds directed toward heavenly things and to remember that the Christian life is a continual journey toward the Kingdom of God. The feast became an opportunity for spiritual renewal, gratitude, and deeper reflection upon the meaning of eternal life.
The celebration of the Ascension once again reminded the community that Christ calls every believer to rise above earthly struggles, fears, and temptations, and to seek the eternal light and peace of God’s Kingdom. May the Risen and Ascended Lord continue to Bless our parish and Guide all of us on the path of salvation.
